Happy and Surprised

Well I spoke to the ex. He has been staying somewhere where hes been going to a therapist and going to meetings. I am so happy and proud of him for taking the first step into getting better.
I told him I would be there for him as long as he continues on this path.

I will say he looks great He doesn't look like hes been using drugs or alcohol. He seems to be thinking with a clear head ( which when hes drinking he cant think at all)
He is positive and said he knows he has to change. He said he cant keep living like this and wants to be better.

And I will be completely honest and that there is a part of me that doesn't believe him
with all the lies hes told me I cant help but be cautious.

I am taking it day by day with him and see what happens.

I would be cautious. Long term recovery rates are poor but they do happen. I was a late stage alcoholic and here I am alive, well, and almost 6 years sober

I'm happy for you and your happy surprise. It is nice to see changes and positive actions instead of just hearing about when they might happen. I hope it all continues in a good way for you.
