I hope a ray of light shines on your spirit and brightens your day at bit on this tough anniversary. When I lost my mom three years ago this month, I was actually grateful because she was incredibly sick and she just wanted to leave here. I was so happy for her to return "home" and be at peace again.

I lost my dad when I was 10, and that was over 30 years ago. My mom's in a nursing home with dementia and has largely lost the ability to speak. When things such as these happen, not only do we feel it in the moment, but we feel it for all time.
My hope is at some point today, you thought of your mom and were grateful that she was in your life for however long you had her. In ways you may not fully realize or understand, she's very much a part of you. We carry everyone we've loved and everyone we've lost. And sometimes, that can be difficult. But it can also be a gift. Everything your mom was, everything she meant to you, is very much alive.
God bless her, and you as well.
