Happy update
Just a happy update..
My heroin addicted boyfriend has been clean for 5 days :-) I know that is not a huge improvement, given he made it 6 days this past time before his last relapse, but he is taking many positive steps in order to not relapse again. He went through the awful withdrawal symptoms so he knew how crucial it was to stay clean. He seems different on this attempt to stay clean, hes genuinely happy, I just hope it lasts. He is still not back in our house, that's something I don't feel comfortable allowing for a while, he's still staying with his sponsor, but I see and talk to him everyday. He looks so good. And he says the feeling of being clean this time is a high all within itself.. a BETTER high!
I'm not naive, I KNOW this could very well happen again, but I am happy that he is doing so good. I just wanted to share that.
Also -- I'm still taking care of me & I KNOW he won't change for anyone but himself. Figured I'd throw that out there, so if anyone replies please don't tell me what I already know. All I want is to share this great news.

Bella, I'm so happy for you. All you can do is take it one day at a time. Maybe he will relapse tomorrow, next week, a year from now, or God willing never. But today he is clean and there is no reason why you shouldn't rejoice in that.
One day at a time, they say, & EVERY DAY is a treasure when someone you love is in recovery! Thanks for sharing this!
With your ability to look at the positives, you will be a great support for him in his recovery, just make sure to take care of yourself, too.
