Gosh, let me sweep some of the sand out from between my toes. Could someone please put some suntan lotion on my back?

Oh puleeeze.

If it weren't for my hot flashes, I would not be surviving this nasty winter!

We get snow every year but first snow of the year seems always to come as a surprise to people. People are driving around on summer tires and have just forgotten that snow and ice can be slippery.

I drove 600 km today in snow and strong winds and saw no problems – it seems to take some time to get organized and it does that every year.

Good your dad came back safe impurrfect

I snowball coming your way cynical one, you better duck.

The southern way to clear off the windows - turn up the defrosters for about 10 minutes, then use whatever works (plastic spatula)

Voila!!

This is what we're still facing in some areas. Most of our cars just aren't equipped for this stuff (the hill I DIDN'T have to go up)! The new stop sign that was a block away was knocked over when I got home, and a car was in a ditch. I couldn't help, as to pull over would put ME in a ditch.

I'm ready for solid temps about 50!

Hugs and prayers,

Amy

Ohh brrrrrr. That just makes me cold looking at it! I LOVE the picture of the spatula on the hood of the car with the windows all nicely cleared off.....that's some great Southern ingenuity there!

That's what I was thinking, interrupted

Poor dad - I think he cracked some ribs one of the times he fell, yesterday, walking to the exit. He doesn't like meds, at all, but is taking ibuprofen.

I'm ready for the ice to be gone.

Hugs and prayers,

Amy

Duck Porn

I was told Vale won't be around until later tonight or tomorrow. Apparently he's out with a new gal-pal.

My wife IS a duck (GO Oregon!) ...however this web-footed
strumpet you have posted a picture of could not hold a candle to her!

-----------and don't waste your time or money on duck porn----all
it is is just a bunch of flapping and quacking like someone put them in a
clothes dryer.....actually, the soundtrack is exactly the same as the one
where you tell the addict "no more money".

I have a friend that lives in Atlanta. She does not own a shovel, so she posted a pic on Facebook last night, she had shoveled (or pushed)snow off her 1 car drive with a Swiffer! I was cracking up!

I live in MO, we have had tons of snow this year, if I did not own a shovel I would be in a bad way!

I had to shovel my patio this morning so I can leave peanuts for Earl and Shirl, my resident squirrels. Poor things are hungry. Good thing I came back from the south, who would feed the critters?

I don't have my winter legs yet, yesterday we ran errands and I was slipping and sliding on not much snow as the sidewalks had been cleaned. My legs are used to beaches and swamps and don't like this white stuff at all.

Does anyone have a recipe for cheese bread? Really good cheese bread? And a recipe that is really easy? I may be doing a batch of my killer chili and want to serve cheese bread with it. I don't bake much, so need something easy.

My AH is from MI, so he's sitting around the last few days saying imphatically: "School still closed? What's the matter with these people?! it was 3/10 of an inch for Pete's sake!! What a bunch of idiots!"

and I quietly respond with "Oh Sweetie... people just seem to overreact to the smallest things, don't they?"...
(HINT: We have no children in school... overreact? aahhh... yep.)

There's something to be said for southern charm... It gives me the opportunity to insult someone while they think I'm agreeing with them.... and they usually thank me for it too... Now THAT's special! (Thanks Mom!)

Ann, did you find a recipe, let us know how it turns out if you make something. I've used the Texas Toast brand cheese bread before and it's good...but not like I'm sure homemade would be.

I found this one that looks super easy, and there are some good hints in the comments like reducing the mayo and using fresh garlic.

Superbowl AND Groundhog Day both happening today.

The duckponds around here are frozen solid so I hope the little rodent doesn't see his shadow.

I do not follow Superbowl and we do not have Groundhog day.

We are more than half through winter. It is 35 degrees, sun and almost no wind – after several weeks with freezing eastern winds – I can almost smell spring in the air.

The day is gaining 4-5 minutes every day
