FDA article....unbelievable.....
FDA article....unbelievable.....
I posted a link last week regarding the FDA's recommendation to tighten controls on prescription pills...specifically Hydrocodone.
Apparently they did.....
Then turned around and approved a stronger drug called Zohydro without the same restrictions.
Does anyone else question that the drug companies are in charge?
Not the FDA.....

But the majority of those who take pain meds do not abuse them. I take Norcos for my severe back pain and without them I would not be able to work, walk the dog, ect...I use to have to hide them from my son when he was living with me though.
It is not an easy fix.Pain meds completely and utterly
destroyed the life of the addict I cared about. But with that
said---I would NEVER deprive pain sufferers their relief.
(THAT DOG NEEDS WALKING!!!!)

I saw the same articles. I am torn. I have had friends/family dying of cancer or some horrific disease that needed pain relief. I have a stepmom (sm) that has chronic pain issues, but she also is an addict and wants to be numb.
I'm both a recovering addict (yes, opiates were one of the things I abused) and a recovering codie (codependent) who has loved ones still addicted.
I think the line between "legitimate need for strong pain medication" and "legit needs for strong pain medication BUT wants to be numbed out" is a thin line....sigh. JMO, due to my loved ones.
Hugs and prayers,
Amy

My son once told me that the whole pain pill addiction is not as bad as it seems. That most people reach a point where they will just switch to heroin. With computers pharmacy can easily track controlled prescriptions. The reason being is that it is cheaper and actually easier to get than prescription pain pills. However, my son is a convicted felon and moved around with criminals so maybe some folks may hesitate to jump to heroin.
