Alittle Advice please Books
Well today I spoke with my husband and he asked me if I could get some books relating to addiction and cocaine helpful books, he is staying at his parents and they do not have the internet any advice would be great there was a book that helped x
The Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous is a wonderful read no matter what the addiction, it even helped me with my codependency.
Maybe he could walk to the library and see what they have available. Or go to a meeting (AA or NA or CA, whatever is near and available) and ask members what helped them.
I know more about books from our side of addiction, Codependent No More being one of the best. The author, Melody Beattie was a double winner...recovering addict AND codependent, so it's worth the read for anyone.
Good luck.
Hugs

I was asking for books when I first found this forum too. On the newcomers forum there is a thread that lists different books people have found helpful, and a lot of them are on recovering from addictions. I think you have to sort of look for what type of read your husband might be interested in to help him. Here are a couple that were suggested to me that have to do with recovering from addiction, but I haven't got to reading them yet.
I want to change my life: how to overcome anxiety, depression, addiction by Steven Melemis
Rational Recovery: The new cure for susbstance addiction by Jack Trimpey
Thinking Simply about Addiction by Richard Sandor
In the Realm of hungry Ghosts by Gabor Mate
The Mindfulness Workbook for Addiction: A Guide to copign with grief, stress, and anger that trigger Addictive Behaviors by Rebecca Williams
Ive been reading a series of books by David Sheff and his son authored some too, but they are about the father talking about their experiences, and the son telling it from his side, in Tweak. Dont know if they would help him deal with his own addiction. The one I just read is called Clean written by him and has a lot in there though about whats behind addiction, and ways to treat it, Ive found it very good. I keep gobbling up books right now trying to understand and learn.
My husband has a cocaine addiction also.

I recently read a great book - Breaking Addiction by Lance Codes, MD. It is excellent. Another good book for addicts who want to recover is, Recover to Live by Christopher Kennedy Lawford. It covers a lot of ground on treatment choices.
