Glad he has an appointment tomorrow...I understand your anxiety with the not knowing what to expect. In my experience with my daughter detoxing off opiates at home, it wasn't until days 2 and 3 that the "super flu" type feelings occurred. The first 24 hours were more uncomfortable than medically challenging. But everyone is different. Sounds like you are following the doctor's advice and if anything changes before his appointment, i know you won't hesitate to take him to the ER. Hope you both get some rest tonight!
