My HP did it again :) haha Really God??? meh... legends are lessons after all.
I have posted about ESH from my 6 year old before, but tonight I really had a lightbulb moment.
we were watching Aladdin and this song in it just blew my mind. I was nervous and didn't want to watch it. D loves it and used to play the song "a whole new world" to me on the piano all the time. I tried to manipulate her into watching Brave or Harry Potter or Cinderella. ANYTHING but Aladdin. She insisted. She knows I love the movie.
I realized that just in this one scene from the movie Jazmine is me, Aladdin is my HP and the Carpet is faith.
It was so wrong of me to think of D as Aladdin!!!!!
I probably sound crazy... but this is how it plays out in my mind:
Me: oh go jump of the balcony!!!
how many times have I told God to buzz off when he was trying to get my attention. or asked me to step out in faith...
He does jump and the carpet catches him. of course. He believed it would. He had no fear of falling.
God: do you trust me?
Me: y-yes...
and she steps out on faith onto the carpet. Even though she is afraid, she does it anyway.
God: I can show you the world. Shining shimmering splendid. Tell me princess, now when did you last let your heart decide? I can open your eyes, take you wonder by wonder over sideways and under on a magic carpet ride. A whole new world, a new fantastic point of view. No one to tell us no or where to go, or say we're only dreaming
Me: a whole new world. A dazzling place I never knew. But when I'm way up here, it's crystal clear, That now I'm in a whole new world with you. Unbelievable sights Indescribable feeling Soaring, tumbling, freewheeling Through an endless diamond sky.

God: Don't you dare close your eyes Me: A hundred thousand things to see
God: Hold your breath, it gets better
Me: I'm like a shooting star. I've come so far.
I can't go back To where I used to be Every turn a surprise. Every moment red-letter. (<----- that's what clicked the symbolism for me. Red letter means undeniable truth. It is a reference to how the words of Christ are traditionally written in red in the Bible)
Both in unison: Ill chase them anywhere. There's time to spare. Let me share this whole new world with you.

All I remember of the movie was that Jafar was an a**hole.
(that'll teach me to shoot from the hip! I don't even remember who Iago was!)
