My Husband and God's will

Hi everyone, today I experienced a beautiful miracle regarding my husband. He had not seen our son JJ since last May of 2012 when JJ stole from us and then he was on the run until September. During JJ's time in jail, my husband never once took a phone call, sent an email or visited JJ. We fought constantly because I would not ignore JJ and I made the time to visit and email him. Well, as you all know, JJ got out of jail and 10 days after was in again and now facing a theft charge and under the influence. About 2 weeks ago, my husband sent JJ an email and they spoke for about 5 minutes on the phone. TODAY, my husband went to see his son and he was exceptional! He has forgiven JJ in his heart and today he invited JJ to choose to be in the family again with our support when he is ready to go into rehab. The smile on JJ's face when he saw his father was comforting but even more comforting is the freedom that my husband has in expressing his love for JJ and no matter what comes out of this incident with this arrest, my husband has opened his heart and I think this is a critical step for our family. I was so in awe of how my husband was speaking to JJ and the power of his love. JJ was fighting back the tears but I saw the shift for him in his eyes as the visit went on. I know there is a LONG LONG battle ahead of us, but this Mamma heard God loud and clear. ONLY God can change someone's heart and that is what is occuring for my husband.
Praise God and the power of love. It truly set my husband free.
Love

That is beautiful and miraculous. I believe the unconditional love of both parents can do so much to heal a person.

Thank you for sharing this.

That must have been awesome to witness!! How wonderful to know JJ will have his dad in his corner when he is ready to seek recovery. I think another bonus of your husband's choice to do this is JJ can no longer use your husband's frustration, anger and disappointment as an excuse to not move forward. Your husband removed that all too common crutch. I am really happy for you. Thank you for sharing.

God's gifts are often strangely wrapped but are blessings all the same. For a father and son to find love and forgiveness during a jail visitation is truly a wonderful thing.

My prayers go out for all of you, that this is the beginning of new tomorrows and better choices.

Hugs

This reminds me so much of what happened with my mother-in-law. She could not open up her heart again to my husband even after he completed rehab, and had been home for months... not until Christmas... and then she broke down and all her feelings came out, and all the emotions, the forgiveness.
It happens in its own time, and when it does it is a blessing. I pray this will touch a special place in JJ's heart and he will gain from it a bit of hope & strength that will help him carry on, and make the best choices for his future.
