"the root of my rot"
 

"Recently, one of my kids let some food rot in their lunch that smelled so awful- not even three Yankee candles could mask.*Hi, I’m Lysa TerKeurst for Proverbs 31 Ministries. I lit candles, I sprayed stuff, I even covered my nose with the edge of my shirt but I still smelled it.*It wasn’t until we took out the trash containing the rotten food that the smell went away. The smell was an outside indication of an internal situation.*Sometimes I find this happens in my heart.*But [my higher power] doesn’t want me to temporarily mask anything. He wants me to address the root of my rot—to see it, admit it, expose it, *let Him clean it up and get rid of it all together.*And the quicker we see the rot, the quicker we get rid of the stink. And let me just tell you, whether it’s old food, bad attitudes, unforgiveness or what ever else is rotten- it stinks!"
