Al-Anon vs Nar-anon
The 12 step process is essentially the same between the two and either would be beneficial. The primary reasons that Nar-Anon is my home group is because 1) I feel comfortable there 2) illegal drugs have a different element of risk both legally and physically that makes it easier to discuss with others who are facing the same issues.
Other than that....the steps, traditions, and concepts are all very similar.
Did I answer the question or were you looking for something more specific? And just for the record, there is no such thing as a stupid question in my book:-)

In areas where there are not alot of NarAnon groups, you'll find many people who love addicts in AlAnon. I go to a group with about AlAnon 40-50 members...and I'd say 90% of the parents in the group are parents of addicts. The people who have have a spouse as a qualifier are about 50-50 alcohol, and the people who are there to address their adult child issues are usually children of alcoholics - given the fact that alcohol was the main issue years ago.
SO, if there isn't a NarAnon group in your area, you will probably find people with addicted loved ones in your local AlAnon group.

I go to both. both are great and work the same program. during my codie relapse, however, Nar anon was a better place for me to vent about drug related struggles such as the dopehouse vs. the bar, etc. and so forth...
