Hi everyone
I took your advice and went to an Al Anon meeting last night. I wont lie, I felt foolish going into it. While I know my xabf has problems I thought it hadn't really affected me except by breaking my heart. Guess I had blocked out a lot or chose to ignore it. But as soon as other members began sharing with me I could feel myself getting emotional as I felt what they felt. I cried as I listened and I cried as I spoke. It was incredible, I was shocked at my reaction and how much I could relate to so many peoples stories.
I will go back, I will learn and I will share more.
When I left, I had a missed call and message on my phone from my xabf. I did meet him but I felt a strange distance from him. I know I still love him but I love myself more. As I was told last night, I need to send those messages from my head to my heart to help me move on.

Glad to hear you are going back to a second meeting. After 6 or more, you will really start to make great personal progress, especially if you share and begin to work the 12 steps. I completely relate to that feeling of distance you mentioned, and though it is strange at first, you will get used to considering your own well-being first, in non-emergency situations, anyway.
