Just came to me to share
I am a recovering addict with over 10 years clean. I have given many leads in the last few years. Last night I was at a young persons meeting giving a lead. I am often asked to speak at them due to me getting sober at a young age.
Before I give a lead I always pray with my sponsor and ask God to have what He wants me to say come out. I never plan my lead. Last night I said something I have never said in a lead. I said "I am only standing here because of the many prayers my mom said for me. God did for me what I couldn't do for myself."
On the way home my sponsor pointed out that I have never said that before. It hit me. My mom spent thousands of dollars to send me to rehab at the age of 14 for me to only be clean 9 months. My mom spent years praying that I would be okay.
I am not sure why I am sharing this it just came to me to share in this forum. So all you parents out there keep praying for your addict children, they need it. I know it was really hard on my mom to ask me to leave at the age of 14 and not talk to me for 2 years, but in reality it helped me.
I thank my mom everyday for what she did for me. I am very thankful to have the mom I have.

Thank you so much. Brought tears to my eyes. I miss my having my 19 y.o. daughter in my life right now (she's 3-4 months clean and sober) and I am trying each day to pray for her, send her love, and be patient until she is ready to be in contact with me again. Your post will help me today. Thanks for spontaneously sharing!

Inspiring post. Keep taking care of her, it's your time now! LOL!
Mine passed in 2007, I could have done more to take care of her. I forgive myself but if other's can realize how inportant these mom's are!
Blessings all
