Impurrfect-it remainds me of my Dad's favorite story!

(I am certain I am bastardizing it beyond all recognition
but I am going to give it a try.....my apologies to joke creator)

Little birdie decides she doesn't want to fly south for the winter.
("I'll just stay here and chillax---why do all that work?")

Winter comes.Birdy's wings freeze over & she falls to the ground.
She thinks.."Oh,this is the end of me! Why did I do such a dumb thing?"

Lazy old cow walks by,takes a big old dump---right where birdy fell.
Soon the warm manure starts to thaw her wings---soon she could move
them again.....

She was so happy! She started chirping happily ..."chirp chirp chirp chirp!!!!"

Coyote hears chirping,investigates.Gobbles birdy down.

End of story.

MORAL of the story?

1-everyone who craps on you is not necessarily your enemy.

2-everyone that pulls you from the crap is not necessarily your friend.

-and-

3-if you are warm and happy in a pile of crap, keep your mouth shut.

Vale, yes the addicts will have trouble "conning" the jail guards who have seen it all. But also the other inmates. Addicts are usually not as violent as hardened criminals. They are sick people though. The addicts/drunks will find themselves in a lot trouble if they do not adhere to the code. All jails are not the same. I did some time in one of the worst, cook county. Overcrowded, no health care, violent ect... I received $$$ from a class action law suit because I had no bed available & had to sleep on the floor. Gangs controlled who ate first, used the phones, television ect.... JJ, hopefully, your son is sleeping on the bottom or middle bunk. Folks can fall out of bed at night. My point is not too frighten (as most inmates do fine) just to point out that jail/prison is not a vacation, rehab or college. One last thing, maybe you can write him an old fashion letter through the mail?

Best of luck to you and yours. Sometimes I wonder if a brief stint in jail would allow me to quit drinking. I went a week and then Fell off hard last night. I joined this discussion group tonight to start my road to recovery. I hope JJs road goes well.

Marty,
Sorry you fell off hard.I'm glad you found a place that understands. It has
been a Godsend for me,allowing me to short circuit negative behavior
patterns.I hope it does the same for you!
