Addicted brother overdosed don't think he will survive

I am very sorry for your family's anguish. I pray your brother will survive this.
There is nothing anyone could have done differently to prevent this. When someone goes off heroin, as your brother did over the past several weeks, the tolerance to the drug drops. This means that the user's body cannot handle the same amount of the drug which was being injected before. But the user either forgets or does not even know this. So he injects the usual amount he used before he got clean, and it is too much for his body and brain. No one in your family could have monitored your brother to prevent this terrible overdose. Such events can happen anywhere, even in rehab facilities when the drug is smuggled in. It happens everywhere.
But he is still alive so there is still hope. May angels surround your brother and you and all your loved ones, may the light of God shine upon you all.

lisa, my heart goes out to your family. How heartbreaking that his child may never know him.
If there are any blessings in this wicked soul possessor we call addiction, perhaps your family can feel a measure of comfort that you had the true him back for awhile before the overdose.

((Lisa)) - oh, sweetie, I am so sorry. I don't know if this will help you, but my baby stepsister was in an accident and declared brain dead. I worked as an RN, at the time, in a similar type unit, different hospital.
We donated her organs. Though we were not given names of the people who received her organs, we were given information about them. It gives me comfort knowing that she gave life to others. I will say, however, it took time.
Please know we are here for you. As ((Vale)) mentioned, there are thousands of prayers going out to you and your family. We can't be there for you, in person, but SR prayers are pretty powerful and I hope that you can feel us there with you.

(((Lisa)))) How I wish I were wise enough to give you words that would bring you and your loved ones comfort. I would write volume after volume if I could do that. Just know that we care very much and are deeply sorry!
