update on my AS

I had posted several times a couple months ago about my 21 year old heroin addicted son. His past caught up with him and he was jailed for about 60 days or so. His court date was yesterday and he got "time served". After his last rehab he was living with an older man he had met in his first rehab and was doing very well. The man has a business and had him working but he had to follow the rules. He started hanging with his old friends, the man made him leave, and he was back on the streets before he was arrested. I have met this man, we stay in touch, and he is a very good influence on my son. He went to his court hearing yesterday and is giving him another chance to work, stay sober and stay busy. He already has him signed up in an out patient rehab, is attending NA (which son has always liked) and has plenty of hard work for him starting immediately. He is also on probation now and they are very strict about drug testing in the county he is living in. The judge asked him when he was going to learn his lesson and said the next time he sees him he is in for a long stay.

I have hope.

Good to hear some positive news. Happy for you and your son.

I know now that God sends his angels to walk amongst us & give us reprieve from the chains that bind our loved ones & ourselves.

One of the things I have learned through the ups and downs, cleans and relapses is to try to let go of the outcome. That's a particularly hard one for me. My hope becomes an expectation. I'm working on that.

It sounds like your son has a wonderful opportunity. I hope that he embraces a sober life and has gratitude for the gift this man is offering.

You and your dear son will be in my prayers.

gentle hugs
