Commitment

Until one is committed
There is hesitancy, the chance to draw back
Always ineffectiveness.

Concerning all acts of initiative (and Creation)
There is one elementary truth
The ignorance which kills countless ideas and splendid plans:

That the moment that one definitely commits ones self
Then Providence moves too.

All sorts of things occur to help one
That would never otherwise have occurred.

A whole stream of events issues from the decision
Raising in one’s favor all manner
Of unforeseen incidents and meetings
And material substance
Which no one could have dreamt
Would have come your way.

Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it.
Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.

~GOETHE~

I post this beautiful quote on commitment periodically because, for me, it is so very powerful. It reminds me that when I fail to move forward because of my fear of the future......I am negatively impacting my future. I am creating my future. When I commit....truly commit myself to something......things begin to happen that I never imagined would happen. Providence moves.

If you are in a situation that feels hopeless, whether it's that you are addicted to drugs, you are staying in an abusive relationship, your life seems to be sad and hopeless. Commit to your own recovery......it does work if you work it.

gentle hugs

Do or do not. There is no try. ~ Yoda

I think Goethe and Yoda would have enjoyed each other's company

Within minutes of waking every morning, I recommit to self care and improvement. Some days are like a walk along the shoreline, other days are like marathon training. I'm committed to a concept and it feels foreign to me. I know that one of these days it will be comfortable and natural, as it should be.

What a wonderful and inspiring passage, KE! Thank you so much. I am going to print that out and put it on my bulletin board.
