Do any of you know what the withdrawals are like for a herion addict in jail?
 

I was reading information online that for an addict withdrawing from heroin in jail is one of the worst experiences to go through. I don't want to visit him in jail. He hasn't asked me yet although he has called me. Is it common for them to say thing that makes no sense at all while withdrawing from the drug?

Its my way of distancing myself from him not visiting him in jail. Its hard but it has to be done.

It's awful from what I've seen my dad go through. They're confused, extremely angry, and yes, they say things that make no sense. My dad Kept asking me if I fed the birds... We don't have any birds or an outside bird feeder. It's just like any other drug... Detox/withdrawal is hell. A withdrawal in jail is no different than a withdrawal at home with the exception that while in jail they don't have a comfy bed to lay on. Pain, vomiting, no sleep, sweating, feeling like you're dying (and sometimes you are!). Hopefully your friend will get it together.

For your own sanity I wouldn't go see him. It's not an uplifting experience...

It sucks everything Jason said plus diarrhea he forgot that one.It is the absolute worst thing you can imagine X10.Dont go visit He's in jail for a reason let him figure this out on his own maybe it will be his bottom if nobody bails him out

My gf is a heroin addict, and she has shared that the worst detox experiences she's ever had have been while in jail, twice. I imagine it had to do with the level at which she was using combined with a less than comfortable environment to be sick in.

I would imagine that death would be welcome.

They feel like dying would end the suffering of detoxing

Death, anything other than being alive and enduring the vomiting, runs, hallucinations, very real pain, sweats and chills, wanting a loaded handgun to terminate what seems to be endless Hell, would be very welcome. That's just the physical aspect of it.
