words of an addict

In recent weeks ive had alot of time to reflect on the last three years of my sons addicted life, its been quiet here at home since he has been in rehab a blessing actually and it has opened my eyes in so many ways and you wont believe but things that my son has said to me have finally gotten through so i thought id share his wisdom on here ,

" you think you can control me by keeping me locked up , you can be right in the next room and Ill still be using my drugs ".....

" you dont understand your a normal person "

"you dont understand mom, I have to be the one that wants to stop and get help"

" its a sad life, im waiting to get sick and tired of it"

They know we love them, that's always enough.

Those thoughts are so true. Their addiction is not ours to manage.

Thanks for sharing your epiphany.

Hugs

You and your son are in my prayers. Those words are so true. As much as we love them, our love cannot cure them. They have to get there by themselves. That's a hard realization for any parent.

gentle hugs
