Things I like to do

After reading can fix only me this morning I am inspired.

1) I like to hunt. Haven't been I have been so consumed with my A's addiction. I think I will go xmas day.
2) I like to fish. I live on the intracoastal waterway in my friends guest house and have 2 boats that belong to me just sitting here. I have tried to go. The bigger boat just brings back memories of our home that she lives in on the lake back home. I am selling it. Will go out in the little boat soon.
3) Read. I have been reading so much that my eyes hurt. Hopefully the pain will go away soon. It is getting easier every day. I carry a little writing pad around with me. I have written the reasons I have to let her go in this pad. When I start feeling anxious I read them. This is helping. I am in that pad alot.
4) I read self affirmations daily. I pulled alot from this site to affirm daily what I have to do to get through this.
There are a lot more to go. Have to head to work now. God bless. Everyone have a great day.

Great post, Topdog. I remember how hard it was, early in my recovery, to do anything besides worry because I was frozen in fear.

Baby steps took me out for a walk to a store (so I actually had to talk to a person) and back every day.

Baby steps led me to buying a camera to get me out of my house and out of myself, and today photography has become a wonderful hobby for me.

Baby steps let me volunteer at a women's shelter, where I learned that life is painful for many people and where I could spend brief periods of time reading to and playing with children while the moms were in therapy.

I remember somebody here at SR saying to me, "You don't have to do everything at once, but try to do something every day". (Thanks JT wherever you are).

It's not only okay to take our heads to a better place, it's downright healthy.

Hugs

topdog, good for you!!! On the very day my daughter chose recovery for the first time, she asked me what I was going to do with myself now. I answered that I had a whole bunch of stuff I had put on hold, I would stay busy. But in reality, almost 4 years later I'm still finding lost pieces of my personal puzzle and even new ones.

"You don't have to do everything at once, but try to do something every day"

Words to live by, one day at a time
