Addiction is ugly--prayers needed
prayers of protection for your son, prayers of peace, comfort and guidance for you ~
This has to be one of the most painful roads a parent can walk - God please give my friend your strength!

The prayers and good thoughts that I have received from all of you have been so greatly appreciated.
My son is safe. He did report the assault to the police. He was back in the hospital yesterday with chest pains--concerned the doctor due to the possibility of blood clot. Tests revealed he was ok and was discharged. Overall he is looking pretty good considering all that has happened in the last week.
He has begun attending NA meetings and has reconnected with some of his sober friends. He claims that this was a life altering event but time will reveal more. Of course, this is outside of my hoolahoop. His choices are his business.
I am taking it one day at a time. I am serene and at peace. I have hope. I have no expectations. He is still in God's hands. I am currently in hyper mode in my own recovery. Reading. Prayer. And am concentrating my energies on keeping my head on straight with the help of some very dear friends and my meetings.
I just wanted to briefly update you and let you all know how very much I appreciate each and everyone of you and the positive thoughts and prayers you have sent our way. You all remain in my prayers daily. This is an ugly disease that affects some truly lovely people--addicts and their family and friends.

****{Hugs}}} to you. I feel so blessed to have you to look up to. I am so sorry for what you have gone through...I can't imagine having my son refuse help at such a time. But thankfully something has switched in his mind. I pray it continues. Take care.
If this is the event that leads him back to sobriety, then it is one of those "strangely wrapped gifts" that I often speak of. We never know where life will lead us, and sometimes it takes an "event" to change our path to a better one.
I'm glad he is okay and glad you are surrounding yourself with support right now too. I know the fear you have been living with, it can shake our very souls.
Keeping you both in my prayers, Kindeyes, prayers for better days ahead.
Hugs
