Lies

my mother and I were talking the other day about all of the lies an addict tells. It is amazing how some can be so hurtful and some are just plain stupid. She said it would make a good book (I think she was half kidding) But, she was right, if you could document all the lies we have been told there would be sad moments, there would be utter laughter, there would be times you would be angry and there would be other times when you felt remorse. All of which would make a great book. I wanted to start this thread in an almost comical note (even though I suppose there is nothing comical about it). maybe it would be somewhat refreshing to list a few of the lies we have all heard. I am sure some of them will be similar.

1. " I need $80 a week for the next couple months as I have bought you something really special"

2. "Im clean"

3. "I took my money out of my wallet to pay and the wind blew it away"

4. "Its not mine. I was holding it for someone"

5. "Be there in 10 minutes"

6. "I let ____ borrow the lawnmower"

7. Day 1: "The battery went dead" Day 2: "The brakes went out" Day 3: "The belt broke" Day 4: "It ran out of gas"

8. "Yes, I took the income tax refund to the dealership for the down payment on your truck"

9. "I took the big screen tv to _____ house his tv was broke"

10. "No, those aren't track marks, I got all scratched up at work"

i could go on all day long with those......

lol .... we have to laugh otherwise we'd cry all the time!! number 4 cracked me up because it reminded me of my AS in the beginning of his addiction we'd found a pipe in his car and some beer in his room. Of course it all belonged to Ben .... I remember telling him that Oh my I guess Ben has been partying it up in our house and your car.... what a good friend you are for giving him a place to have fun!!

Wow I have heard some of those. Especially the one about the gift and I am holding it for someone.
How about:

1. I didn't take anything I am just tired.
2. It's not mine I don't know how it got there.
3. I am at work.
4. If I was doing that I wouldn't be able to keep a job.
5. I have money in savings don't worry about it.

Laughing really is the only way to deal with it!

there are so many to have to try and remember but a few:

I Forgot to put the check in the ATM and I lost it (that call to the bank was fun)

The copper shavings on the floor boards must have been something i walked in at work

I layed in an Ant pile at work, those are bug bites all over my legs

To look at these and know I am not the only one who have heard them is so "funny" really not but lord do these come in a book they read or what? I have to agree sometimes you just want to laugh in their faces because what else can you do especially when you both know you are lying. It took me a long time to really figuare out what those copper shavings were really from when they were constantly all over his truck.

Copper shavings are from a brillo pad that they tear up to filter their crack pipes with.

Ah. Thanx, Peanut. I guess each DOC comes with its own handbook of lies. My RAS's DOC isn't crack, so I wasn't aware of that. What a sad little club we belong to. :/ But thank God for this program!

Hopeawaits...I just about fell out of my chair at work with the whole Ant Pile excuse!

I did not know about the copper shavings either, guess I learned something new!

I agree, we all have to laugh sometimes about these things or we would indeed cry all the time!

1. I took the car just to get some milk (at 2am)
2. Oh that tournicate? That was from a lonnnnnng time ago!
3. I was driving and got tired, so I just passed out in the car all night instead of driving home.

Ok the copper makes since now. If you had been talking about blue coated cotton or a can with burn marks or the spray a needle makes on the headliner of the car I would have understood. Really sad that I know what the spray pattern of a needle looks like.

I've got a new one ~ today's lie:

Can I have your last $2.00 I need skoal and am broke (10 minutes prior he took $80 out of our bank account ~ just found out after I gave him my last $2.00)

Miss Tara: Isnt that great!! I thought really?? you didnt notice one bite before you had say 100 bites on both legs?!?!?

Yes the copper shavings are for the pipe. I used to find the tiny little shavings all in my car! When I said something tohim way back when he tried to argue about Chore boys compared to brillo pads, as if I was making things up

It really is funny if ya think of the things we have learned!!

Like the Glass roses at Gas stations on the counter...... They break the rose off and it makes a great glass pipe!!

If your water faucet starts spraying all over, or differently than usual, check to be sure your user didn't steal the windowscreen material thingy. They use that as a filter too.

hopeawaits:
My AH's DOC is Roxi (well it use to be Oxy till the pharmacutical company changed them and now they cant be crushed) I suppose Roxi's are blue and when crushed make the cotton that is used for a filter turn blue. Can you believe we know this stuff? Ugh! I can spot his drug use a mile away (as I am sure you all can too). Sad really

I had one of my metal drain stoppers go missing awhile back and to this day have not found it. Any idea what this could be used for? It's all metal with a thick rubber ring around the bottom.
