Songs

I'm having a kind of tough day today, took ABF from detox to halfway house and the nerves/anxious feelings are back. I need something to distract me.

I know I saw on here before a thread where people posted some music or songs they listen to when they need a little pick me up. Could someone remind me where it is??

Thanks!

Daisy,

That song *sick* is good. The part where he sings...

If I was sick like you
I would feed the fire
I would light it up
and watch it all drop down

Well, that is what we do isnt it now? That one hit home. I remember countless times feeding the fire of a fight and as it snowballed into something huge I had no choice but to watch everything fall apart.

That is why I love music so much, it really educates & evokes emotion.

Figured You Out by Nickleback......ugh.....I love Nickleback but that song just screams at me--the addict talking to his codependent. The sad thing is....an addict can spot a codependent in a heartbeat. They can figure us out....and it isn't hard. We really are that predictable if we aren't in recovery.

For me, every morning, I have a routine. Reading my emails, reading/responding SR, do my daily readings in the umpteen books I have from Naranon and Alanon and then put on very soothing music (meditative or world music) as I get ready for work and I use that music to set my "heart and mind" for the day. Then.....because I've established myself in a calm and loving manner for the day.....I carry that with me.

gentle hugs
ke
