Narcotics Anonymous Question

My friend is going to a Narcotics Anonymous meeting tonight. I was wondering if non-addicts (myself) are able to attend as well.

Should I go with her to show my support?

As long as it is not a closed meeting, you can go. If she wants you to go I think it's fine.

Thank you...I think I'm going to go. It might be beneficial to me as well...couldn't hurt.

Sure you can go, just as long as it is not a closed meeting. I did attend a few when I was with my husband, brought me some great inside for the otherside.

unlike the others...I suggest you go to nar-anon instead.

If she asks you to go...well, perhaps, but both you and she would be able to speak more openly and freely at your own meetings.

Also when I went with mine...he then avoided getting a sponsor and tried to put me in that role.

I don't think it is a great idea to get too involved with their addictions or their recovery programs.

I go to alanon, but it was suggested that we go to open NA/AA meetings. I have gone by myself and with my AD. It is really interesting to see the differences in the programs.

This is a duplicate post I have on another thread, but I wanted to share it...

Tonight, she attended her first NA meeting and I went along for support. She admitted to everyone, while not at first, that she was an addict. She wasn't the only beginner and I do hope that she will continue to go to meetings. Only time will tell what will happen with her. For now, I'm taking a step back, working on me...

Sounds good!
