Identity theft?
My addict BIL has now started stealing his brother Bob's identity so that he can dodge his warrants and rack up big tickets on Bob's account. If history is any predictor, my husband is next - if it hasn't happened already. (shrug) It is what it is.
This cannot be the first time in history that an addict has stolen the identity of a family member to get around the law. I'm just curious about what other's experiences with this have been.

Hi NG!
I can certainly understand that you and your hubby are concerned about your BIL doing something to perpetrate financial fraud using your hubby's identity. My husband and I have a similar problem, but with his AS. You see, my A stepson is Mr. HG, Jr. Sometimes he conveniently leaves the Jr. part off, and we get "Jr.' mail that has been forwarded to our home from the address Mr. HG had prior to our marriage. Mr. HG was even served a summons that was meant for his son and the court officer would not let him refuse it.
What we have done is sign up for one of those credit monitoring services that alerts us if anything new happens involving Mr. HG's name or SSN. It might be something for your husband to consider. I'm not sure how to handle it if your A BIL is somehow able to obtain or forge a picture ID in anyone else's name except to report it to the police as soon as possible.
Good luck! Hugs, HG
