The guilt over what your children have seen motivated you to get out.good. Now, it is no longer serving you.. let it go. Focus instead on giving them a good role model who has healthy boundaries and healthy relationships in her life. All us parents have done things we shouldn't have at one time or another, work on what you can do better from here. When we know better, we do better...hang in there.
PS ..someone at the shelter screwd up when they spoke to your bf. Please don't let that mistake stand in the way of you utilizing their services. I used to work at a shelter, and mistakes DO happen, but there are really valuable services ther that are often free..inclding therapy for kids who witness DV..consider calling them again..you still qualify even tho you are out of the home of the abuser
