did I do O.K.?

hello, i wrote my ad and told her it was not a good idea for her to move here when she is released in Oct. Today I got a letter telling me that she felt the same. BUT, then she went on to tell me she is so scared as she has no money only the clothes on her back and doesn't know where she'll go? It also makes her depressed when she hears other inmates talking about going home and their families are excited. She cannot get a referal from her social worker in prison to go to a rehab center. I feel as though I,m setting her up to fail. I'm so concerned about getting manipulated again.but this is soooo hard. I wrote her many letters telling her I love her and that I pray everyday for her. BUT I am beginning to feel that dreadful pang of guilt. Have any of you been here? Where do they go???

You did what you needed to do to preserve yourself, which is great.

There is time for her to find a place to land. Have faith.

I do understand that guilt Katie. I think there is something called transitional living.
It is specifically for people who get out of prison. I don't know.
How about the Salvation Army?
I know how hard it was to write that letter Katie. That was so tough I know.
But, you know she cannot come back, and I hear some emotional manipulation too (how happy other families are to have their inmate back home).
Keep the strength Katie.
You can do it.

Not so much for her, but because it may make you feel better...why not make some inquiries about available help or services. The Salvation Army is a good place to start, and they may be able to supply information and phone numbers.

You could give your daughter the list and then let her make whatever arrangements need to be made.

My heart and prayers go out for you. I know how hard this is.

Hugs

Good job.. it just isn't in her or your best interest. Stay the course..she is afraid, but can do this.

Keeping you and your daughter in my prayers. I'm sure it's scary for her but she can do this and so can you.

gentle hugs

Many of us have had to do things that we were afraid of doing. We just did it afraid. It'll work out.
