Looking for a fitting quote...

Since xah is gone, I have this bumpout below the cathedral ceilings. It's prob 5 x 10?? It hovers above my couch/fountain ~ which is the first thing that you see when you come in my front door. I want subtle, but meaningful. I had a few metal objects up there along with our names. Well our 4 names is down to three. I can add the dog in his place, but she's 8 letters, he's 5. It would be out of proportion. JK I'm thinking of doing some faux painting, along with a decal saying. I want it to suit our/my family, but not make it obvious to strangers that I've been through he((,

I've found this Serenity Prayer and will paint around it, but wondering if anyone had anything more profound. I don't want to scream 'victim' just something worthwhile I guess..
Wanting something subtle that doesn't jump out. Just something that will blend with the LR.

What are your favorite quotes, thoughts, motivations SR?

I like your idea, Callie. I don't have any quotes for you, but I bet you'll get some great ideas here. I just looked at your link with the Serenity Prayer on it -- if you decide to go with it, just an FYI...they used the wrong spelling of a word...should be "grant me the serenity to accept" instead of "except."

Good luck! Sounds fun!

elegant script and just love it. Somehow HK, Chino and CO suggestions can't rise above the elegant ness of my point!

LOL ~ you got me guys. Wanting something meaningful, but yet not frightening when entering my front door. Not wanting the quote to scream 'victim of an addict/not fair/scornwoman etc/. Any OTHER suggestions?

The (New) Serenity Prayer

Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I cannot accept,
and the wisdom to hide the bodies of those people I had
to kill today because they pissed me off.

And also, help me to be careful of the toes I step on
today as they be connected to the ass that I may have
to kiss tomorrow.

Help me to always give 100% at work...
12% on Monday.
23% on Tuesday.
40% on Wednesday.
20% on Thursday.
5% on Friday.

And help me to remember...
When I'm having a really bad day,
and it seems that people are trying to **** me off,
that it takes 42 muscles to frown and only 4...
to extend my middle finger and tell them to bite me!

From HumorHost.com

Just kidding

Nice idea with the Serenity prayer though - how about something simple - just you and your kids' names......and "LOVE" or use the first letter of all of your names and have your kids help you think of an acronym that fits you all. Have fun with it

For that which is boundless in you abides in the mansion of the sky, whose door is the morning mist, and whose windows are the songs and the silences of night.

Itsatruth - It's costing me about $50 for 20 words. I need to scale it down a bit. Or at least it better pack a he(( of a meaning! Thanks!

"Always Forward"

yes, it is an Army motto, but I think it could work here. You have been through a mighty battle, but never gave up, always moving forward, never look back with regret, just lessons learned to help you better move forward.

always is present minded thinking and forward is self explanatory.

keep moving forward to the goals for today and tomorrow.

Beth

It's a new day. Let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Carpe diem!

Or, if you are feeling like a killing machine, got plenty of those!

my favorite, from the Airborne,

"Death from Above" or
"Kill 'Em All and let God sort em out."

Nice thread.....humor and love from our many wonderful SR friends!

You got me looking up quotes; there's a lot out there. Check out quotethewalls.com if you haven't already.

An excerpt from a poem I've always appreciated:

Take time to LOVE
and be loved

Take time to laugh
it is the music of the soul

Whatever you decide, I'm sure it will be great!

Itsatruth, I'm not really laughing (though I am!) and don't find anything comical about this...Nice thread.....humor and love from our many wonderful SR friends!

JK. LOL - looking for something meaningful, but not 'dwelling on the past if you will. The bumpout that I have is huge, so I'm thinking of an artsy thing, but would love to include some kind of script WITH the art. Not something that's going to stop you in your tracks, just something subtle that will make you think...

Also not wanting something to remind 'them' of my sitch.

Nice ~ I was sound asleep @ 4:30 in the am and I hear someone beating on my front AND back door. It scared me, frankly. I peek out and I see 4 cruisers in my lane. I sleeply open the front door alarmed. They're looking for xah who has been out of the state for 3 months and in treatment for 2 weeks. They couldn't/wouldn't give me any details, but looks like they're coming back on him for something that he's done in the past.

I provided them with the info/address/numbers that I had. Told them that I would help in anyway that I could. XAH always feared this, they'd get him for what he's done, not what he's doing.

My new quote. Addiction, the gift that keeps on giving.

I hope he's not in more trouble ~ just want him to be right and live a normal life. He's not used for 5 months. I hate to see him go down for something stupid he did in the past. I was pi$$ed and asked them to keep it down for fear of waking the kids. I am so humiliated. Seriously? My driveway looks like the 4th of July in August. My parents live up the road and it freaked them out as well.

Quotes, I need quotes. Not 100% feeling the serenity prayer for a perm fixture in my house. Don't want to relish in these crazy's!
