Did you now some people really do what they say they are gonna do?

Funny it sometimes catches me off guard as it shouldnt be a strange concept.
All my life Id be told promises, we're gonna do this, Im gonna do that, ect, from my father, my grandfather, brothers, even bosses that didnt follow through...think mom followed through, know dad did
estranged AH never did except on the rare occassion I nagged to death.
My sister lives with me. Her boyfriend and his friends are around a lot. Always offerring to do nice things help out ect. I asked the other day if next time he came over he could move a very large cabinet and terrarium to the back patio for me. He said, yes and he'd bring help. Also since Tuesday was like his Sunday he's be there Tuesday ebfore he started another week of work...ok.
Yesterday evening when I got home he hadnt been there, I really thought nothing of it, just that he was busy doing his own things.
About 9:30 pm (we are an up late household) he and a friend were dropped off. Again, figured they were there with my sister. After a bout 5 min, he and the friend started sliding a table over and such....It hit me they were there for me. They with no whining I might add, moved the item to the room and helped me set it up. Few minutes later they were already to go.
They came just for me, because they said they would. Wanting nothing in return.
It hit me later how foreign that concept was too me and I am so thankful, the job was done. I only asked once.
I guess as time goes on there will be many things that feel odd at first

Thanks for sharing, that touched my heart. Before this journey I took stuff like that for granted. Yes, this is the way it ought to be and I expected that out of myself first, but I also expected it from others. Now I'm just grateful and your story reminds me to stay that way. For me it's joy and I want more of it. The only way that happens is for me to hold onto gratitude
That was so sweet of them.
Like you, I am sometimes surprised by how dependable and helpful some people can be...often without even being asked.
Most people are good, it's the bad ones that catch our attention.
