They put him in a Hospice today. It would have been better the other way around.
Guess that is not my decision. Not sleeping at all, so hard not to be irritated with
whoever is deciding his fate.

Thank you everyone though, the support here makes it so much easier.

(((Ms Done)))

Hospice is a good organization, very well trained at end of life care.
They will help minimize his pain, Ms Done.
Though I know it's very hard...

My thoughts and prayers remain with you both
As you go through this difficult time.

Shalom!

Questions About Hospice

If he's having to stay in a facility, it's probably because he won't receive the care and attention he needs at home.

I did volunteer work with Hospice for a little while. Miss Done, it's like he and his loved ones are all receiving about 10 extra pairs of helping hands. He'll receive - and everyone else - specialized attention and so much compassion it's almost astounding. It's like being surrounded by a team of angels.

((Done)) - Hospice is awesome. I wish I'd known my mom was going to die when she did, because I would have put her in hospice.

I know this is hard, but he will be kept pain free and have all his needs met, sweetie.

((Jaybird)) - big hugs, sweetie. I know the anniversary of your dad's death is coming up and I wish I could take all your pain away.

Hugs and prayers to you both.

Amy

Thank you guys, I did not know hospice were such a good place.
They came to talk to my Mom one time when she had cancer and she
kicked them out, lol. So I had a weird feeling about them. My Mom
always has talked highly about them though.

He is now talking to people in Heaven, his wife, (Grandma), his mom.
He was yelling at my sister like she was a kid about how she needed to
go "Tie up her horse"
Okay grandpa..
No I mean now, not 5 minutes from now.....
He yelled but it was such a harmless yell, "That" yell that when he does it
you smile or look at someone next to you and wink.
Or you do something to make him yell at you, cuz he's funny.
I think it was cuz he was smiling on the inside when he talked to you.

I was able to calm my sister down today, Miss I Show No Emotion Ever,

They cleared out his home fridge today.

Yes,
That cleaning up of his "stuff" is so difficult to deal with...
My father in law couldn't do it at all.
My ex and I did it 6-8 months after she was gone,
and it was still painful for him.

I did most of it for my mom.
No one else in my family had ever dealt with it before.

It's just never easy.
That's all I have to say about it.
Memories surround every item.
And we don't want to let go of our loved one.

But, then, we come to realize something.
These *things* are not them
Even as they trigger memories for us.

Our loved ones remain with us
In our hearts, in our souls
In our very beings.
Because they made us who we are.
And everything we do is a testament to them.

I know that your grandpa is so proud of you, Ms Done!
And he will always be a part of you.

Shalom, my friend....Shalom!

Aw miss done, I've been traveling and just now saw this. I hope you're doing OK and finding some peace in all of this. Hospice is awesome, kind and loving, a way to go when he's ready with peace and some dignity.

Hold onto those happy memories. They will hold you up when you are feeling low. It has worked for me, and well.

Love to you and grandpa done too.

I stayed home from work today, have had a headache that won't stop.
I always seems to get these on the day of.

He left us 55 minutes ago. 5:20 he went home.

Thanks everyone so much for your support.
I'm sad but my sister and I just talked about how we are glad he is out of pain.

Awww miss done, sending more love and hugs. He's out of pain, but you'll miss him a lot. I hope you can cherish the good memories and find some time to grieve your loss.

I'm so sorry, dear one. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I'm relieved that his suffering has ended but I know it's terribly hard to loose such a wodnerful man. Hugs
