Reading Material

Ok guys,

while I am laid up here recooperating from whatever I have (hog fever??) I have a question to ask everyone

What are some really great recovery books?

I have read the "Getting them Sober" series and I have and read daily the Alanon One Day at a Time I and II, and the Melodie Beattie "Language of Letting Go." Of course I have the bible and try and read it daily too.

So what are some great books that helped you all out there?

I would like to try and understand addiction. But I also would like some books that help us, the non-users, in recovery too.

Thanks everybody!

Playing it By Heart by Melody Beattie is a bit of a biography or story of her life and it helped me understand a lot. She was an addict, the kind who robbed drug stores in the middle of the night, and her story shares so much about addiction, codependency and struggling with the loss of her son. As depressing as that sounds, it`s very uplifting because she rises above her problems and moves forward, and has always been a huge inspiration to me.

Hugs
