Thank you everyone and bless your heart, Janet, for starting this thread. I'm sure many of you noticed I haven't been on here much over the past several weeks. My pelvic fracture is healing well but when I fell about 6 weeks ago, I screwed up my back even worse. I had a few tests done a couple of weeks ago and they think I now have 4 ruptured discs now instead of the two originally diagnosed and definately a great deal of nerve involvment. I could have told them that, I feel like I have lightening shooting down my butt cheeks, into my legs and feet. That pain is worse than the back pain. It got so bad that two weekends ago I had my Son take me to the emergency room, I couldn't take anymore. I did give in and let them give me a shot of Morphine. Thankfully the Methadone I'm on blocks the "high" from the Morphine but I did get a great deal of pain relief. I came home and slept more in one night than I have been over a several day time span.
I have an appt in a few hours with a Pain Management Specialist to see if he thinks that I am a candidate for nerve root block injections. I had them back in the mid 80's when I originally ruptured the first disc in my back and got years of relief. The doctors want me to try this first before they cut my back open because of all the arthritis' I have and degenerative disc disease. As I'm sure some of you know, once surgery is done on a joint/bone/spine, arthritis setting in is almost a given. I pray I am a candidate for this and get some relief because my life has consisted of only being able to go to doctor's appts, tests and the Clinic twice a week. Anything else causes me too much pain.
