It's not just us codies who get quacked at!

I was reading the news on the computer, the other morning, and saw an article where they had gotten the man who had broken into the police station a couple weeks earlier, near where I live. Wondering who the heck this idiot was, I clicked on it.

The idiot is my niece, Brit's, "dad". He's an A, has been in and out of jail/prison her entire life.

I read the article, told her about it (she's happy because she wants him to stay locked up). I also watched a video from the news.

He had been in county jail, but had earned the position of a trustee, and had worked in this police station, as well as the fire station. An officer spoke of how they "thought the world of J", thought he was going to turn his life around, how he could have actually continued to work with the fire dept. Then he spoke of how much it hurt that J turned around and did this. He said everyone in the dept. was "shocked" when they found out it was J, even though they KNEW he had a criminal record from his early teen years.

Don't know about you all, but it made ME feel a bit better to know that even people who are supposed to know better, get taken by a "professional quacker"!

One more thing I did want to add....I think a big reason J is still out there is he's been enabled by his dad/stepmom. Until the last couple of years, every time he got out of jail/prison he was given a car, house, and a job in his dad's company. Once he embezzled from the company and they actually pressed charges, the job part stopped, but it's only been the last year? that they have stopped with the house and car. J's brother died of an overdose.

His stepmom is evil but I do like his dad and feel sorry for him because he just doesn't understand or know better. I haven't talked to him since Brit was a baby, so it's not like I can call him up and encourage him to go to a meeting.

At the age of 33, J has probably spent at least 17 of those years locked up. In fact, he had to come to Brit's mom's funeral with an escort and in handcuff's.

Hugs and prayers!

Amy

He was busted with guns, and he also took drugs that were in the evidence room. A few more people were also busted that he sold some of the guns too. The dummy didn't even wear gloves...he was caught because his fingerprints were all over the window sill. I didn't think about it, until they mentioned it, but apparently there could have been cases thrown out of court for missing evidence, but because of records kept, that won't happen.

I'm not sure what Brit feels about this, other than the generalized anger she always feels toward him, but I'm glad she finally agreed to counseling and is going every week. She put the news video on her myspace, along with some comments about what a dumba$$ he is. He gets an automatic 5 years for being a convicted felon with a firearm. Brit will be 16 next month, so by the time he gets out, she'll be grown. At least we won't be hearing from him for quite a while.

Hugs and prayers!

I am happy that Brit is getting help for herself. This has to affect her, no matter how relieved she appears.

Your post reminds me that these "idiots", these addicts who keep screwing up, are somebody's father, somebody's son, somebody's loved one and they probably hate what they are doing more than we could ever hate them for doing it. Sick people who need help, and just can't seem to surrender.

Brit is so blessed to have you, Amy, and I know the blessing goes both ways.

Hugs
