dating sites

I have an ad on a dating site and one of the questions they ask is what books have you just read. I put I read couragae to Change from al-anon. Is that controlling in a sense or is it o.k. to leave that as is?

it is honest but it is also anouncing that somewhere u have an addict or alcoholic you love. there r people that would run from that. it is also a self help book so i do not know. i guess anyone that can not accept things as they r ,those r the ones u do not need them in your life anyway.

there is nothing wrong with that book (it is majorly important to me) and it does happen to be a book that you have read....however, it is a book title that conveys information that I am more comfortable sharing on my own time schedule that out there for the world to judge right away. I think that the suggestions that I have seen had been to avoid self-help book titles for the initial contacts.

I think that it is up to you though....do what feels right to you. You can always change it later.

I'd be a little worried that the "controllers" out there would read into it that you may be a person that could be manipulated, bullied, controlled, etc. just because you may have codependent traits. IMHO

Personally you couldn't pay me enough to advertise on an internet dating site.

I learned a painful and expensive lesson in online 'love'.

I would encourage you to read the following sticky, and although it doesn't specifically mention dating sites, it's full of good information:
