Glass half empty or half full?
So...lets play:
I've learned we can either look at things as good or bad, depending on how we feel. I've also learned that we can change how we feel if provoked...so...I'll start:
Now that spring is TRYING to arrive, my lawn looks like a bunch of bad topees (sp?) grouped together and I don't want to mow it.
The good: Spring is trying to come
My roof is leaking in the living room
The good: Its not leaking in the kitchen, family room, bedrooms,bath...
Anyone else?

As far as my yard goes, there's certainly a chance for half full/half empty~
Half empty thinking: my grass is more of a golden brown (not green).
Half full: I'm saving lots of water in a state that's low on it in the first place!! For me, the half full way of looking at stuff gets me through life - although it is not always easy.

Half-empty: I don't have anywhere to go on Easter because my Mom is having my BIL who is currently using drugs over so I'm boycotting (on the advice of my sponsor).
Half-full: I have my son here with me, and since there are just the two of us, I can afford a lovely dinner out at somewhere nice for Easter for us!

My glass is FULL! I don't have a lawn, I don't even own my home right now. I have friends that I never would have met if I hadn't met the AH, I have family that I'm close to that I probably would never have gotten a chance to know as well if I'd had a "normal" mother, I have met all of you and learned so much from being a codie - it's not always fun, but it's so hard to ignore all the blessings!
For me, when I start getting overwhelmed, I just start thinking of my gratitude list, and it is SOOOOOOO long, it's hard not to see that I really have a very full glass (of very very good fine wine!)

Do you remember a children's book - i think it was called "Fortunately/Unfortunately". If was a story like this - Unfortunately, a boy fell off a cliff. Fortunately, he had a parachute. Unfortunately, the parachute failed to open. fortunately, he landed on in field of soft cotton... and so on.
I remember that book, probably because I believe i am very much genetically predisposed (tempermant is something we're born with) to see every cup as half empty. It has been the 'work' of my life in the past year at least, to apply effort to seeing it half full. i fall short a hundred times a day, since my first thought or feeling is a negative one allways. but I'm not giving up on asking God to remove the negativity, nor on feeding myself with positive spiritual things each day.
so, Unfortunately, cockroaches were sited at my work place this week. Fortunately, i am working tonight in a unit where they have NOT been sited.
Unfortunately, my husband and i owe over $3000 in taxes this year. Fortunately, we found the $ to pay it.
Unfortunately, my daughter is still using. Fortunately, she is still alive.
Unfortunately, I have both the disease of addiction and depression. Fortunately, I am treating both diseases, which would not have been possible had i been born 50 years ealier than I was.
Unfortunately, the disease of addiction is often subject to relapse, and medication for depression has side effects i hate. But fortunately, just for today I am clean and I accept the side effects of the meds.
Unfortunately, I am working on Easter. Fortunately, I have a job!

Half-full: I have a 4 day weekend giving me lots of time and we come out about even on the taxes - refund for him, small payment for me.
I have been practicing a "Let your attitude be gratitude" thing lately. When small things get me down, annoy me or threaten to spoil my day, I just close my eyes and say "If THAT'S the worst thing that happens to me today, Thank You God."
Flat tire on the way to work? "If that's the worst thing that happens to me today, Thank You God!"

Half empty: My RAD called me early this morning and very humbly asked me to bail her out of jail, after being stopped at a DUI checkpoint.
Half full: She was sober and an old failure to appear (traffic violation) is what got her hauled in. Yes, I bailed her out but only because it was an old traffic ticket!
It's a beautiful day, I have a thousand reasons to celebrate, and Happy Easter to everyone

Half-Full: I had my family over for a great Easter dinner and they brought their adorable puppies.
Half-Empty: They brought the brother, who hasn't been having great days lately.

Half-Empty: He stole a pill out of my dresser (from an unlabeled bottle).
Half-Full: It was a sleeping pill and I was able to laugh as he could barely keep his eyes open.
Half-Full again: I could handle this and it didn't cause a mini-breakdown. It just makes me a stronger person in my resolve to live my life and not live someone else's.

Half-Empty: I was just told by my finance it's either him or my brother at the wedding - both will not be attending.

Okay, I'm playing...
Unfortunately, my son is still drinking. Fortunately, he doesn't live with me anymore so I don't have to watch.
Unfortunately, we had a huge fight on the way to Easter dinner which ended with him telling me to F off. Fortunately, I stuck to my boundaries, turned the car around and dropped him off at his dad' house.
Unfortunately, I was pretty flustered when I got to my Mom's. Fortunately, I have a loving family and we had a good time anyway.
Unfortunately, I have been feeling sad about the whole thing. Fortunately, I have SR to help me put things in perspective.
Wow, this is adddictive! I feel like I could go on forever. Oh, I guess that's not a cool thing to say on an addict site! lol
Unfortunately, it has bee a dreary, cold day. Fortunately, I had a peaceful day inside, working on school work and watching movies.
Okay, I'll stop for now.
