I was befuddled all day yesterday, distracted at a meeting I went to last night, couldn't sleep, all because of a SPOOF.

I got a call on my phone yesterday, I looked at the caller ID, and the caller ID said my name and my #. I was like HUH??????? So I answered it, and whoever hungup. I called the police and they told me it was a SPOOF. And told me not to answer it if it happens again.

Called my phone company and there is no way of protecting my name or my phone # being used by someone else to spoof with. They told me I could press charges for harrassement, if it happens again, have any future phone calls traced, but with the new spoof technology, a lot of times they would still get my # coming up if someone is using it to spoof with. This is kind of scary in a lot of ways.

I don't know if it was someone pulling a prank, someone really trying to harrass me, or someone letting me know they are using my name and # to spoof with.

It seems there is no protection from this sort of thing happening.

Caller ID's are no longer safe. My name and # is no longer safe.

With 2 addicts in the family.......I don't like this!!!!!!!

Ever notice how many are taking advantage of the *67 thing so that it shows as unkown on the inbound side?

I think this is what happened to us the other night, I just posted about it,
It was the weirdest thing.........

We got text messages on our cell phone though........

I feel very violated, that someone can use my name and # to show up on anyones caller ID. I feel very violated, that someone would call me and be able to disguise who they are (especially by using my own name and # to show on my caller ID).

It renders caller ID useless. Something needs to be done about this!!!!!

Can you imagine what drug addicts and crooks could do with a Spoof Card?

Say someone didn't like me and wanted me in trouble, they could purchase a Spoof Card, make a bunch of calls to somewhere, and make my name and # show up on that caller ID, resulting in me getting in trouble for phone harrassment. My # would come up on the phone bills as well. Would AH do something like this? Would AS would do something like this? hmmmmm????

I have an OOP against AS, he's mad because I kicked him out, would he do this?

The day before this spoof, I got set custody of son again, and AH got 7 1/2 hrs of visitation a week. The judge specifically said there is to be no harrassing phone calls or texts.
How do you prove who is doing this? The judge also said, "Its not a perfect world"
2 times.

So if someone uses a spoof card how can you prove someone is going against an OOP?

And with a spoof card someone can get me in trouble by using my name and #.

The possibilites of trouble with spoof cards are endless.

I think they should be outlawed!!!!!

They were Crazy.. Both me and my roommate were getting them.

some were about Elvis, some were about having sex with older women,

some were about the tides of change, some were about the

way I see it is....... Some were about Sweats and stuff......

Things about today,, yesterday and the new litany? wtf?

Champage, and Charlie Brown and the boys and the moon

and the beads.......

They were the most bizaree things.......

I thought maybe it was the wires in my house messed up or something,

or a ghost............ We have one who plays weird games like that with

our TV, etc.......

I usually don't worry about stuff like that, it makes me laugh.....

Try not to worry........ If they can't get to you they will stop usually....

I wonder if it came up that way because he was billing it to your home #. Anyway, it might be weirdism....it's just the timing.


I thought of this too, but I don't want my name as "unknown." I want whoever "I" call to know it's me calling. But this maybe why many are going to "unknown" caller.

I'm just not answering my phone unless it's a # I recognize. Anything else goes to the machine. This still doesn't prevent my name and # being used on other caller ID's.
My phone # is no longer my phone # and can be used by anyone....this is ludicrous.

And DoneWithIt, that is just craaaaaazzzzy!!! Did you try finding out who it was, did you call the # back to see if it was anyone? Or was it was a spoofed #?

I've had a couple of e-mails from myself also and I never open them because I know they are not really from me.

Thanks for this thread, it's make it a little clearer now.

I'm glad it's just e-mail, I can delete it pretty quick and not be bothered.
