OT-need some doggy prayers in this household now...
Miss Bug is out of surgery and recuperating very well. What is so bizarre is there was no infection in her uterus at all. However, once she was spayed and closed up, her temperature dropped to normal. I guess it's the mystery of the year.
The vet wants to keep her on IV antibiotics one more day, and the sweetie can come home tomorrow! Thank you so much for all your good thoughts and prayers! :ghug

Thanks for updating us, and I'm SOO glad everything is okay. It's probably a good thing for her to stay there one more day...when she gets home she won't want to rest and will be too busy bouncing all over the house
Hugs and prayers!

Baby Bug doesn't get to come home.
Unfortunately her fever is back, and now the vet is suspecting an autoimmune disorder. She's adding prednisone to the medications and we'll see how she does over the weekend.
It's really hard not to worry when you don't have answers.

Sorry, one more question.
Do you know if they did a Blood culture?
Then perhaps they could figure out if she's growing some Bad bugs in her blood.
I would think massive antibiotics to be on the safe side?

She's thinking now along the lines of autoimmune hemolytic anemia. She can run a Coombs test for that, but for now we'll see how she responds to the prednisone over the weekend as that would be the treatment anyway for it. This bill is going to be astronomical and couldn't come at a worse time.
She's been on IV Baytril since she was admitted and will continue on that also. It could be that she's just now responding to the antibiotics appropriately.
She gave me the option of bringing her home because she's acting fine, but I told her two more days of restricted activity post-op would be good for her and my peace of mind, plus my battery went out in my digital thermometer and I wouldn't be able to monitor her temperature.
(((Freedom)))
I'm sorry she doesn't get to come home yet, but am praying they find out the problem and the prednisone works and the antibiotics kick in. Please keep us posted.

I'm late here, but I'm still sending love and healing wishes to Miss Bug! She is the most adorable sweet thing, just seeing her picture made me want to snuggle with her!!!
Hugs to you, Freedom, and prayers for your worries about Miss Bug.

She loves to snuggle! Our little ritual at bedtime is once I am in bed and laying on my side, she wants me to hold up the covers, she goes underneath (it's quite a hoot) and she stays under there for about 5 minutes. Then she pops back out, and curls up right against me with her head under my chin! I have missed having her there at night with me!
Miss Bug had a very good first day back at home and we were as delighted to have her back as she was to be back! She just took her meds nicely for me in peanut butter a bit ago and is snoozing with her 15 1/2 year old sister on the doggy bed behind me. She will go back in 2 weeks to have her lab work repeated.
