Thumbs up A Piece Of Cake

By FAR one of the best books I have ever read.
It reads a long the lines of A Million Little Pieces but
better and it's a work of fact not fiction.
I read an article where she reamed him for and what
he did to people like her who actually told the truth about
their stories.
I couldn't put the book down. I love reading books like this
because sadly to say when I see people in her state they
often scare me (before her recovery) and I wonder what
the hell could have happened to someone to get them to
that point. Now I know. (at least one persons heroining (sp?) ordeal)
And it stops me dead in when I even have the slightest doubt
in my recovery. If someone can come from the grips of where
she came from, then ............... it's ludicrous for me to even
go there.
Amazing and Powerful book.

If you want some hope and inspiration that people do recover
when all hope is lost, this is a good book.

On the flip side, it is intense and does go into some detail
so it may be too much detail for some.

I have to say it is by far the best addiction book I have ever read.
She is Amazing. I would love to meet her or hear her speak.

I couldn't say enough good about this book, I haven't shut up about it since
I got it. lol

I read that book last year, Miss Done. It was fascinating and gave me much hope for my daughter. Hugs, Marle

I have a soft spot for James Frey.

A year ago, this coming Wednesday, I " sprung" my daughter from one rehab and was at the gate at the Detroit International Airport working two cell phones. On one end was the intake of a world class rehab in Minnesota and on the other was someone from the county circuit court where I begged for approval to transport my daughter from one out of state location to another.

Miracles happen and I was able to make contact with someone willing to grant approval as he was walking out the door, for the holiday weekend.
The rehab however, wanted written authorization.

At the end of my rope I screamed that " You took Jame Frey and you will take my daughter ". And they did !

That lasted 5 days before they said she needed more care than they were able to give. That's another story, for another time...

It was after I read his book I decided that I too could quit meth.
I used to stick up for him whole heartedily on this board and
others, and as I was told over and over again, recovery is not
about lying, so I was torn. On one hand it was after I read his
book that I got the strength to start looking into recovering and
I did, I didn't realize the impact he had on others like this author
until I read her article.
I'm still torn, It's too bad he didn't just say there was some fiction
in there.

Anyway, I love Cupcakes book. It's great. I'm glad you enjoyed it Marle.
If anyone else decided to read it let me know what you think!
