My daughter was in a car wreck
Thank you all so much, I felt each and every one of your thoughts and prayers on the drive to the airport. When I started to feel overwhelmed, I suddenly heard this loud voice tell me "you're OK, it isn't you." I've held onto that thought the entire flight and throughout this day.
The plastic surgeon repaired her face and I didn't think it was possible. Oh my goodness, she looked like the Terminator after his face was blown off. There was a huge chunk missing from her orbital bone and her eyebrow is gone for now. It may or may not grow back but I told her if they can do hair transplants on the scalp, they can do them for an eyebrow.
Tomorrow the plastic surgeon will put two plates in her jaw because it's fractured. Then they'll wire her jaw shut until it heals. The jury is still out on her hip fracture, they are taking it one thing at a time. She also has a broken rib.
She's doing pretty good and they know about her being on subs and her DOC. I surprised the doctors and her when I asked about painkillers. They thought I didn't want her to have any but I told them I was concerned about her not getting enough because of the extra receptors in her brain. They have her on just enough morphine to keep her from climbing the walls.
She's cried a few times but then stopped because it hurt so much. She's joked a few times as well and sleeps a lot. Her nurse is very familiar with addiction, she said most people in her family battle it. They've become fast friends.
My husband and I are headed back to the hospital in a few minutes, we left and came to our office to take a breather during the shift change. I had to log on here and tell you how much you all mean to me. I could not have made it through this day without your support.
I still have my serenity and I cry when I feel like it and it lasts for just a moment. Thank you a thousand times over, it means the world to me.

Chino, Thanks for the update. You sound like you are doing well in spite of it all.
Glad to hear the plastic surgeon did such a good job on her face. With her jaw wired shut you can tell her she will lose some weight. I have had really alot of surgery & I always looked at that as a " fringe benefit " Only joking!
Take Care of yourself & your hubby too.
Love & Prayers,
Diane
