OT - Prayer request
 

My uncle Bob is having surgery tomorrow on one of his carotid arteries.

He is almost 91, has had 2 heart attacks, but is still amazingly healthy...doesn't smoke, eats right, rarely drinks alcohol, exercises daily. He and my aunt have given me a tremendous amount of support in recovery and we have gotten really close.

I told hiim I would send him prayers for tomorrow and he just said "thank you..that should help".

I'm a little nervous, but I know he'll be in God's hands. If you can, send a few more prayers from my very dear uncle Bob.

A tad of encouragement for you. My gram got a pacemaker for her 100th birthday. She will be 105 Sept. 23 and still going strong..

Momsrainbow...your gram and I have the same birthday...I'm just a few years younger:)

He is in God's hands.:) and he sounds like an amazing individual...reminds me of my mom...she is 83, just had hip replacement...they let her out early cuz she's such a pistol! because of her age, people were worried about how she would fare...
this woman eats more nutritionally than anyone I know and her spirit is so much larger than her body...and after the surgery and a little down time she just had things to do...

Well, I just found out the surgery is postponed. They did the preop stuff and his heart rate is a little low and erratic. So I'm sure the dr. just wants to get that improved a little. He will still have surgery, but it may be a week or two, so I told them they were covered in the prayer department:)

Its so hard when they are this old - so many different systems interacting and breaking down- my step dad is this same kind of situation after 3 heart bipass surgeries, stents, pacemaker, etc. But I so admire their desire to keep on keepin on and their energy level.

91 and willing to do what's necessary. Your uncle is an inspiration and from the Greatest Generation. This Baby Boomer has always admired them and looks to them for guidance all the time. He has my prayers!

My Grams had that surgery done and got along fantastic. She was 85 when they did it and she was out of the hosptial, I believe, in about 5 days. She started walking and exercising within a month. With all the new technology the things they can do are truly amazing.
