Kids Do the Darnest Things

7-10 days ago, my 19 year old R (?) AD got reacquainted with her DOC, heroin. And wham-bam, old habits die hard. She was dope sick in the AM and clearly chasing what she needed the rest of the time and the lies.....all lies.

And then, she slept it off, almost 20 hours and woke up today bright-eyed and busy tailed and in a good mood. She managed to get herself back on the wagon, for now and denies she had relapsed. Gotta love it.

For today, just for today, I am not going to worry about tomorrrow. I am thrilled that she managed to do this on her own and did it before it took over her entire life, again.

What I learned at the rehab family lectures is that when a relapse occurs.... it's not the same kind of high as the times before beginning recovery.

Hugs and prayers for you and your AD that she gets back into recovery.

Recovery messed with my high/drinking.

It's really hard to have "fun" with a head full of NA/AA

Just for today...good slogan to practice.
We've learned that we can't worry our way out of anything.
Sounds like you're being careful not to relapse yourself.

Prayers for your daughter, that she can stay back on the good path.

Our recovery is tested and shines when we can still keep our balance when those around us lose theirs. You shine girl, just keep putting one foot in front of the other and let God do the rest.

Hugs

I think that is such a strong good out look. One day at a time is the way to do it I think. Prayers for you all.

A gift of this program is realizing that we only have to handle Today. Sometimes a challenge to stick to, but easier as we grow in our recovery.

I am so glad you shared this, it shows your experience, strength, and hope.

Hugs, and prayers for you, and your daughter...

Thanks everyone. I have learned so much from your collective experiences. Today was also another good day. I am grateful. There is time enough to worry about tomorrow, tomorrow.
