Simple Pleasures

Today I received an IM from someone I have never met in person but have been listening to for quite a while...It was such a pleasure to read and I just feel very grateful for the note.

I grew up in a single parent home[dad left, died of alcoholism], mom had 4 kids, the oldest [of course me], was 7. We didn't have anything, and all worked for basics, mom always made sure there was something on the table, and that we knew how to take care of ourselves and each other[I realize what a gift that was]

We had ratty sheets on the beds, and each of us 4 kids had ONE TOWEL. It was the kind that came from free in the laundry detergent, very thin, could have used two or three to really get the job done.

This morning, after my shower, I took one fluffy soft towel off the rack to wrap around my body[yes, its a big one], and ANOTHER ONE to wrap around my wet hair.

I must be getting sentimental in my 50th year

GOD, DO NOT LET ME FORGET THAT THE SIMPLEST THINGS IM MY LIFE, GIVE ME THE MOST PLEASURE.

THANKS ANN............................................... .Marian

Your towel story reminds me of my own childhood. My mother was widowed young and although we were not poor, we were at best struggling middle class. I too never saw a fluffy towel until long after I was married.

Your post reminds me to be grateful for the simple pleasures in life.

Simple pleasures today, for me, are sunrises and the smell of freshly mowed grass....and being able to buy a nice scented candle and burn it whenever I want.

Maybe others will share what their simple pleasures might be. This thread and idea is too good to just let it float down the page

So how 'bout it? What simple pleasures are special to you today?

Hugs

P.S. Thanks, Marian, for the good memories.

My cats I'm laying on my side with Elvis on my hip, Pretty-kitty at my feet, and Mots (mouth of the south) is on the back of the love seat...all very content.

Also for the little rain we got today...GA is still having drought problems.

Great thread!!!

Hugs and prayers!

Amy

Simple Pleasures~~~~I have 4 grandsons that I am so thankful for. Whenever I'm down and can get my hands on one of them I end up laughing!! Kids are so innocent and sweet~~~I'm learning not too stress over the little things and that's a super simple pleasure.....Smiles, Bonnie

simple pleasures....

My absolute favorite ...
coffee on my deck in the morning before I start my day.

That is the place where I am most at peace with myself and my life.
That is where I thank God for all of the other simple pleasures in my life.

Sometimes I am bruised for all the Pinching I do to myself, when I can't believe just how blessed I am.
Thank you God!

Simple and pleasurable warm hugs to you all.

My simple pleasures?

Seeing the Lilies bloom, and smelling their fragrance.

Being able to afford the gas! to take my 89 year old mother out to lunch today.

Watching Mr. Moose eyes light up, cause he can ride his bike again.

Knowing I am loved every minute of every day.

Watching the mama duck parade her babies past my back deck every night, and making sure I notice each one before she parades away again.

And sunsets.

I am so blessed that my life is filled with simple pleasures.
