Yes, it does hit us. And as often as it happens, it continues to hit us and hurt us. And, I guess I'm thankfull for that feeling too. Cuz, if I didn't feel it, I would be callus; less than human. When a young person dies, it's a tragedy, no matter why they die.

We *are* truely blessed...

My heart breaks for your friend and her family.
Tomorrow it will be a month since my son died from a heroin overdose. I know how much pain your friend is in. A month later for me and the pain is still there. I will pray for your friend and her family. Historyteach, this may sound awful, but I am glad for you that your son is in jail, even for a few days. I wish my son were in jail. at least he would still be alive. Your son is at least safe, thank goodness. i will pray for you and your family as well. Please take care of yourself.

Teach, I am so sorry for the loss of Christine's son. There is so much grief in the lives of the ones who love addicts, yet somehow that grief endured in life seems minute to the finality of the grief that washes over us when the addict dies. Nothing can really describe what it feels like to experience that level of grief; heartfelt sympathy to you and Christine, Josh's fiance and son, and Trevor.

Just saw your thread and my heart is heavy for you, this young man,
and his family. Such heartbreak for them. It's so sad.

I'm truly sorry for their loss.





So Sorry to hear about Trevor, too. I hope this is a wake up call for him
and he gets back on a good path. I hope that he's able to get his meds while
in jail. If not, maybe doing without them will be his real wake up call.
