hi everybody,
relapse is a strong theme right now and i wanted to share that i ordered a 30 minute cassette from the hazelden website called "addiction: cunning, baffling and powerful" which really really helped me understand the pull back.

i don't work for hazelden, not trying to drum up business for their site....just thought some here might want to know.

the guy who gives the lecture uses a hand puppet named "Slick." Slick is the voice of addiction in the addict's head. the lecturer demonstrates what Slick says to get the addict to use again.

the one hugely powerful message from the lecture is that addicts relapse because they underestimate the power of addiction. even after 20 years in the rooms, they underestimate it.

vigilance, dear friends. we all need it!

the lecture is to a gathering of addicts in treatment. so it's good for everyone. the more i know about the disease, the better decisions i make.
