(((Sickatheart)))

Sorry I'm late on this, but as a recovering addict, I can only second what Chiynita said. It was only because my family let me fall on my face and deal with my consequences, that I sought out recovery. I spent a month in county jail, almost 5 months in a diversion center (locked up, but allowed to work).

I am STILL dealing with my consequences, but now that I'm working at my recovery, at least I AM dealing with them. I'll have a year clean in less than 2 weeks. I know this has to be hard on you, but we A's will not stop using until the pain of our consequences outweighs getting high.

Hugs and prayers!

Amy

I used to fear jail and my kid having a "record"... then I finally realized that out on the streets and using was far more dangerous. I am sorry she may have to detox in jail, but they do have the ability to get her medical treatment, if needed and she will at least have many eyes watching out for her.

Some of my most serene nights were when my kids were in rehab or jail (or both, on one memorable weekend... smile).

Take this time to regroup. I found LOTS of meetings helped me very much. I wish you the best.

Big ol' mom support coming your way.
You know the playbook on addiction and just might lead Kristina to seek recovery.
As weird as it sounds, we hear too many stories where being in jail is preferable to not and it can be the life-saver.
I am so proud of your ability to not jump in but rather sit w/ this for awhile to determine what is best. She's safe, being fed, and w/o her drug. Just what you wanted her to be.
Going through withdrawals in jail has got to be tough. But it needed to be done somewhere.
