I have a little update.....
Just speaking from 'my' experience, but until he's convicted, don't consider yourself safe just yet! The courts, namely the judges, are far too easy on them, imo. The way they downgrade charges to laughable offenses turns my stomach. Please still take all the precautions you have been taking to keep yourself safe! It ain't over 'till it's over...again...just my opinion.
In my experience, whatever the DA goes for or doesn't is irrelevant, as it's all up to the judges mood at the time. It's amazing how charges can be downgraded because the judge doesn't want to deal with it. Gosh, I really don't mean to sound like the gloomy person here, but, I've lived through it with all the anticpation of justice, just to be very disappointed to learn that justice isn't all that it's cut out to be.
Of course I'm speaking of my situation, but I've heard many similar stories told, so I don't believe it's unique to me.
I refuse to serve on jury duty because of that. After hearing of my experience, no lawyer wants me. Fine by me!!

Loves-
I may be being redundant here and maybe you already have one if not have you considered a domestic violence advocate? To my knowledge there is also a difference between domestic violence and stalking- Stalking has stricter laws and is taken far more seriously in many states. An advocate in this area with experience may be helpful in the legal process and the press.
I'm not an attorney or a policeman- But I would think they should be charging him with attempted murder, stalking, terroristic threats, kidnapping.
Not to take away from any of the peace you are feeling tonight- but I do think ICU has some valid concerns and I would like you to have many, many nights of safety and peace! I may know of someone who could refer you to an advocate in your state, specialized in stalkers, pm if interested.

I am so, so glad they got him.
Unfortunately, I know of a guy who is now in prison for the same thing (he was one of my "dope boys"). I know GA law is different, but he got 1 year for stalking, BUT got 6 years for "family violence" and 6 years for burglary. He has been in county jail for 8 months, and was sent to prison today. The county he was locked up in is normally, very lenient but he still didn't get away with it.
Get a lawyer and check out a family violence charge (he was not married to the woman, but he did have a kid with her)...it may be a more serious charge and keep him locked up longer. I personally think a kidnapping charge should keep him behind bars for a long, long time.
I'm just glad prayers were answered, and you are safe.
Luv ya!!!

Kris,
I am glad they got him, but as others have said, it isn't over til it's over. Please do what you need to keep yourself safe. I like the idea of getting the newspaper involved... the more people who are aware of what he's done and is capable of doing , the better.
