I went to the doctor this week for all this strange bruising. I woke up with it. It looks like I was beaten and wasn't. Anyway, he said he thought it was shingles, but he wanted to do blood work just to make sure it wasn't anything else. He said shingles are caused by stress. Do I have any stress? I wanted to laugh. I said it is caused by a husband and finances. I did not go into his drug use and alcohol abuse. Now, they called back yesterday and said I need to come in this morning for more tests. They found something strange. For once it does not focus on my husband and his addictions and I am worried. How did my husband act? Selfish, mean, and noncaring. He really can't think of anyone but himself. My littlest one has a Christmas program at school today. He basically is coming up with any reason not to go. I know it is to get high. She is in third grade. He goes to nothing. People think I am a single mother. Sometimes I wish....

let us know what the dr. says. keep the focus on yourself. you have no control over what your husband does or don't do. it is bad that our children hurt because of what their addict parent do or don't do. i am sure she knows you would be there if you could. prayers,hope

Shingles are actually caused by being exposed to chickenpox the second time around, after you had them as a child. The majority of people who get shingles are immonosuppressed. Stress wracks havoc on our bodies.

Hopefully you don't have shingles.

As for you AH, put the focus on you, and your daughter.

Ahhh, Hoping. I'm sorry for what your going through.

Have you read up on shingles? There's a good website on it. Shingles.com
My mom went through it and so did a friend of mine. Its caused from having the chicken pox virus still in your body.
I hope you'll let us know you're ok.
Mean time, relax and don't worry too much. Take care of your self and try not to let hubby take up too much room in your head.

I'm sorry that your AH is being so selfish. I know you kind of expect it but I know it hurts like hell nonetheless. I'm sending lots of strength, prayers and positive thoughts your way. Take care of your health right now above all else.

Your AH has absolutely NO IDEA what he is missing out on. Someday, God willing, he will. Someday, God willing, he'll wake up. Until then, take care of you and that precious gift from heaven.

Shingles is almost always accomanied by severe pain. If you don't have pain, it probably isn't shingles.
did they do bloodwork? Bruising is often caused by a low platelet count. If they found this, they will investigate further. Keep us posted.

Actively using addict are generally useless at times of crisis, BTW.
