A Decision I am Grateful for Having Made....
Once you have kids you cannot give them back or sell them to a new home! You have them for GOOD.
I think it is that very thing that spooked me off. I have, in my life, only taken one dog back.. the rest have lived to ripe old ages. I have never given a cat back. I did eventually sell my cows and I only put down two horses.. always sold them b4 they got to retirement age.
That is the freedom you have with livestock or pets. They have typically short lives.
Kids are supposed to out live their parents. Many do not and the heart ache for those parents is something I cannot fathom. However, the natural scheme os for them to outlive you, the parent. So you have them.. good, bad, lazy, sad or hard working.. you have them pretty much for the long haul NO MATTER WHAT.
I did not want that. Seemed like a trap to me. I don't do well in traps, cages or confinement. The kid might have suffered. I know I would have.
