OT Veteran's Day
 

Regardless of how you feel about the war in Iraq, today is Veteran's Day. At 11:00AM on this day in 1918 the Armistace to end WW1 was enacted. It was essentially written as a 20 year guarantee of peace which was broken in Europe starting WW 2 there almost exactoy 20 years later...

And in both those wars and many others American soldiers fought. Some were killed. Most came home.

When you have the freedom to complain about the Government here in the US or you complain about the health care system you can thank a Veteran. When you have the freedom to walk out the front door of your home and feel safe or you go shopping and don't have to drive there wondering if you are going to hit a land mine.. you can thank a Veteran.

Today I wish for the wars to end and for peace to prevail and for all of our young men and women everywhere to be able to come home.

It's called Remembrance Day in Canada, Elana, and we join you today in remembering with honor all those who served to keep our world safe and free.

And I'd like to share a poem that most Canadians grew up with on each Remembrance Day...

my AS served in Cuba, Afganistan and Saudi Arabia, he was Military Police and a prison guard. go figure!!

thanks for this post. my son is retired navy & he never went to the lands of war & always wanted to. i felt blessed that he didn't.prayers for the service men & their familes & what they give up.

My father was in WWII, in the Pacific Theater. I am grateful every day for those who serve our country and protect us from harm.
