Her day in court.....again

Well it was back in court today for the arrest made in June. Her hearing was originally scheduled in Sept. They did not have all of the evidence in and the cop did not show up. You see she threw up when they arrested her and they accused her of swollowing evidence. Well, she claimed she didn't and she didn't have anything to swollow. She was intoxicated and the alcohol made her sick. They didn't believe her so they bagged up the evidence and sent it to the lab.

So today was the hearing and guess what......she was telling the truth. The report came back negative for drugs. So all of the charges were dropped except the one for the crack pipe and the attorney said that is a misdemeanor. Nothing serious. She wasn't using crack at the time, but it was on her. Well, it's not over...she has to go downtown and have another hearing and get her sentence. The attorney said it will be probation and a fine. So, it's not over until it's over.

I'm glad that the charges are misdemeanor. She is fine with getting probation. She said she doesn't mind getting drug tested because she is not using drugs and she is doing really well. I hope everyday that this continues. Life is pretty good and I am so thankful.

Just wanted to give you the update.

Hugs............Lo

That is good news, Lobo, and good for her for staying clean.

I can sense your relief and my guess is that she will be glad when all this is behind her.

Hugs

I'm so glad that everything was dropped but the misdemeanor. I'm on probation for 5 years. After I had completed 2 years, I was placed on "unsupervised", which means I don't have to report, and don't have to pay the $32/month fee. I'm like your daughter....I don't mind the drug testing 'cause I'm not doing drugs! It also reminds me that I can't be in certain places or around certain people - being around a drug area or people using would be a violation. It gives me an easy out if people around me want to do drugs - I just say "I'm on probation and I'm not going to jail for something YOU'RE doing, so see ya!"

I doubt her probation will be as long as mine, and even if she gets a fine, they will usually give her plenty of time to pay it off.

I'm so glad that you and she are doing well and this is just a minor bump in her recovery.

Hugs and prayers!

Amy

I'll give you the same message I gave another mom here....tell your daughter she has a new friend in cyberspace praying for her. Of course, I pray for all the moms and kids here (my prayer list has gotten so long since I joined SR

My biggest prayer is that ALL the kids find recovery and realize what great moms they have!!!

Hugs and prayers!
